In a world buzzing with distractions, where our attention is pulled in myriad directions, the ability to focus has become a superpower.
Recently, we ran a session on Focus and Resilience unveiling a nuanced approach that resonated deeply with our audience.
Stephen Covey's Circles of Concern framework is elegant in its simplicity, offering a visual representation of the things we care about versus the things we can control.
However, as we’ve explored the model, we’ve a way of increasing it’s impact. This refinement allows individuals to gain a clearer understanding of where they wield power and where they can effect change.
We asked our participants to rate their influence on a scale of 1 to 10. This simple yet potent question acted as a mirror, reflecting back individuals' perceived influence in various areas of their lives.
For those rating their influence between 1 and 5, it served as a call to action: either devise a plan to increase your influence or let it go.
Conversely, for those ranking their influence between 6 and 10, it signals that this is something worthy of focus.
Covey’s model is elegant and simple. Based on the feedback, it’s clear to us that transformative insights often stem from the simplest models.
In a world that’s dizzy with complexity, returning to basic frameworks like the Circles of Concern can be remarkably liberating. They strip away the noise, revealing the essence of where our focus should lie.
The true magic happens when we integrate this awareness into our daily and weekly routines.
By consciously prioritising where we allocate our time and energy, we reclaim agency over our lives.
It's not merely about being busy; it's about being purposeful. Its about intent.
So, as you navigate life's demands, remember the power of focus and intent.
Embrace the simplicity of Covey's model, and allow it to guide you in where to invest your most precious resources.
By making them a cornerstone of your daily practice, you'll not only enhance your productivity but also deepen your sense of purpose and resilience.
